Iona Elizabeth Ozbirn

Iona Elizabeth Ozbirn, 83, of Elkville, passed away at 12:05 A.M., Saturday, November 15, 2003 at her residence.
Iona was a homemaker and was a Baptist.
She was born June 25, 1920 at Coulterville, IL the daughter of Charles and Anna Elizabeth (Crews) Hamilton.
She married C.D. Ozbirn on February 20, 1956 at Cassopolis, MI and he survives.
She is survived by her husband C.D. Ozbirn of Elkville, seven children- Lee Vuichard and wife Kay of St. Charles, MO, Mary Durnell of Belleville, IL, Norma Beal of Blytheville, AR, Virginia Carrel of Elkville, IL, Rose Wayer and husband David of Elkville, IL, Cathy Colcord of Belleville, IL, Bill Ozbirn and wife Eun Suk of Ujoinbu, South Korea, two step children- Drenon Ozbirn and Brenda Chappel and husband Joe both of Jacksons Gap, AL, one sister- Izola Hammel of Belle Chasse, LA, special nephew- Budd Hamilton of Niles, MI, twenty three grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Elkville Cemetery.
Friends may make memorials to the Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life.
